2-The picture that was posted on the newspaper to display the disappearance of Madeline McCann has a more of a positive outcome.The mother and the daughter appear to be on a slide , meaning that they were in a park.This portrays an idea that the mother and the daughter had a close relationship sine they are in the park together having fun.The mother holding the child shows that the mother seems protective over the child. The type of clothing that they are wearing, doesn't really stand out in order to differentiate what type of social class they are in.Lastly , the photograph that they used to put on the article contributes to the fact that they have a loving relationship.However . it seems staged knowing that they are getting photographed , meaning that we don't the relationship between them behind cameras.

On the other side, for the Matthews family article, there are to separate pictures which is one of the mother Karen and the daughter Shannon. Unlike the McCann family , Karen is clearly unaware that someone is taking a picture of her. Karen looks messy , like she didn't acknowledge the fact that they were taking a picture of her.this enforces on the idea that working class people aren't presentable and it makes her look like a drug addict. With Shannon's picture , theres nothing wrong. Se just seems very happy and it looks like its a school picture.However, compared to the Mccann family , it enables us to see the relationship between the mother and the daughter.

The newspaper'The Telegraph'tend to be hierarchical since they're majority of audience is upper or middle class.One example which matches with the representation of Hall 'contested' is how Madeline McCann was placed first instead of Shannon's story.Another example of how it supports with Hall's theory is the type of language used in the news article.In the Madeline story,there's a variety of emotional language which as a reader it shows the loss of the child has affected her. Evidence of this is ' traumatised' 'cannot bear to be parted from her two daughters' ' tearfully'. The fact that they applied this words and phrases on the news article, shows how the family with a higher rank care more about the situation.
In contrast , in Shannon's story the used of the language is negative.Evidence of this is ' allegedly' This  claims to be the case or have taken place, although there is no proof.This shows how they don't believe on any word the mother was saying which is different from the McCann story even though there was no proof too.
